Ex-UP chairman gunned down in Rangamati

A former union parishad chairman was gunned down in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Dwipmoy Talukder was the former chairman of Ghilachhari union and also the vice president of the upazila unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

The victim's family alleged that some miscreants picked up Dwipmoy from Haludia on Tuesday afternoon when he was returning home.
Locals spotted the bullet-hit body of Dwipmoy in Zero Mile area on Wednesday morning and informed police.

Officer-in-Charge of Rajasthali Police Station Mafzal Ahmed confirmed the matter.
Being informed, police recovered the body.

The reason behind the killing is yet to be known, the OC added.
As the news spread, Tanchangya people brought out a procession protesting the killing.
