The Department of English along with English Club of Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB) organized a day long program titled ‘English Day’ under the supervision of Nujhat Afrin, Club adviser and senior lecturer, Department of English at the university auditorium recently.
Dr Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat, founder chairman, Board of Trustees, CUB graced the occasion as the chief guest and along with him Mohammed A Arafat, Professor, management and chief advisor, Board of Trustees, Md Shahnul Hasan Khan, executive chairman, CUB, Professor Dr Mohammad Mahfuzul Islam, vice chancellor, CUB inaugurated the ceremony.
The programme contained the presentation session by students of the department of English objectifying to inspire the excellence of studying literature and enhancing the knowledge and also to acknowledge the power of language to be the change for a better world. On the later part the orientation of new students of Summer 2019, the installation of the new executive committee of English Club, performances of the students, open discussion, recitation of poetry, music and some other English learning based activities were accomplished.
Among other, Fiza Jafreen, head (acting), department of English, Professor Willam H Derrenger, dean, School of liberal Arts and Social Science, Shahriar Mohammad Kamal, assistant professor, Department of English, Dr Shahrukh Adnan Khan, dean (acting), School of Science and Enginnering, Bahauddin Mohammad Isa, register (acting), S M Arifuzzaman, head, department of BusinessAdministration and Md Latiful Khabir, assistant professor and director of Students Welfare, other faculty members-students and officials of CUB were also present in the programme.
