DU signs MoU with Balipara Foundation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and Balipara Tract and Frontiers Foundation, India was signed on Monday May 16, 2022 at the VC’s Lounge to share scientific knowledge regarding conservation of biodiversity. Vice-Chancellor of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman presided over the signing ceremony.

Treasurer of DU Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Chief Communications Architect of Balipara Tract and Frontiers Foundation Ms. Karishma Ahmed signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institution. Chairperson of DU Botany Department Prof. Dr. Shamim  Shamsi, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zabed Hossain and Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker were, among others, present on this occasion.

According to the MoU, Dhaka University and Balipara Tract and Frontiers Foundation will jointly conduct research on conservation of biodiversity, forest, agro-ecology and climate. The two institutions will exchange students, faculty members and researchers. They will also jointly organize seminars, scientific workshops and conferences. Besides, the students of DU will enjoy internship facilities at Balipara Tract and Frontiers Foundation in India.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman thanked Balipara Tract and Frontiers Foundation authorities for signing the MoU and hoped that it would play an effective role in conservation of biodiversity in Bangladesh.
