DNCC launches dengue combing drive

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Tuesday launched a combing operation in the city to control the menace of Aedes mosquito which is spreading viral dengue infection. DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam formally inaugurated the operation at Dr Fazle Rabbi Park in city’s Gulshan area in the morning. “We have divided each ward into 10 blocks and then each block has been split into 10 sub-blocks. This operation will continue every day. We should work together with mass people to tackle the dengue menace,” the DNCC Mayor said.

He urged the city dwellers to join the cleanliness campaign and keep houses clean every day. “DNCC teams will visit every house during the operation. They will check if there is larvae of Aedes mosquito in any house. Action will be taken if Aedes larvae are found,” he added. Atiqul also warned that if larvae is found in any government, private and commercial establishments, the institutions will be fined.

Among others, BishwoShahittoKendro founder Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Abdul Hye, Chief Health Officer Muminur Rahman Mamun and Chief Waste Management Officer Manzur Hossain, were also present during the drive.
