Although Ishwardi is a first class municipality of Pabna, the condition of the road named Tipu Sultan in the municipality is now in a dilapidated condition. Large potholes and ditches have been created on the road, making it impassable for vehicles and peole to ply.

The condition of the road up to two kilometers is now more deplorable then ever, following several days of continuous heavy rain. Passengers of vehicles plying on the road are suffering due to the creation of innumerable new potholes. This misery has been going on for five long years. But no initiative has been taken by the local Municipality, Railways, Roads and Highways authorities to repair this road.

This road is one of the important roads in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. Every day hundreds of officials and employees of Ishwardi EPZ, Pakshi Railway Divisional Office and Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant Establishment Project travel on different vehicles through this road. Due to the dilapidated condition of the road, they are suffering a lot every day to reach their respective destinations. Accidents are also taking place on the road a lot now a days.

Workers plying on the road a regular basis said that as there was no alternative road, they had to use this road to get to and from work every day. Due to this condition of the road, vehicles often overturn and get into accidents. Some of them are injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. This situation has been going on for a long time.

They said that not only us, but also senior officials of Ruppur Project, EPZ, Municipality and Railways use this road. But they do not take action. Some of the residents living on the side of the road said that the condition of the road was due to the movement of heavy vehicles which were overweight.

When contacted, Ishwardi Municipality Executive Engineer Abdul Awal said that despite the ban on vehicles weighing more than 20 tonnes, a 10-wheeler drum truck was carrying 40 to 50 tonnes of sand.

Due to this, the condition of the road has increased day by day. He said it is also one of the important roads in the city. The road needs to be repaired.
