Daily virus cases hit 16-week low

Bangladesh registered 35 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday, taking the total number of deaths to 27,182.   

The country recorded 1,190 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,541,300, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

This is the lowest infection cases in 16 weeks. The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate stands at 6.05 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.37 percent.

Among the 35 deceased, 16 were men, and 19 were women. 19 of the deceased were from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, three each from Khulna and Rajshahi, two from Sylhet and one each from Rangpur and Barisal.

A total of 19,668 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday.

During this period 1,645 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,498,654 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.23 percent. 

As of Saturday 4,695,116 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 228,517,227 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
