Cyclone ‘Nivar’ intensifies in Bay of Bengal

Hurricane 'Nivar' is getting stronger in the Bay of Bengal.The deep depression in the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has intensified and turned into cyclone Nivar in the same area. 

The warning was issued in the Meteorological Department's bulletin at noon on Tuesday,November 24. 

The deep depression was located at 1,065 km southwest of Chittagong seaport, 1,610 km southwest of Cox's Bazar, 1,555 km southwest of Mongla and 1,550 km southwest of Payra seaport at 8 am on Tuesday. 

Within 54 km of the cyclone center, the maximum wind speed is 72 km per hour. It is growing up to 88 km in the form of gusts or gusty winds. The sea is rough near the center of the cyclone.

The nivar may become more concentrated and move north-west. Boats and trawlers stationed at Chittagong, Mongla, Payra seaport and Cox's Bazar have been asked to move carefully.

Although the cyclone hit the southern coast of India, it could cause rains in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. As a result, the sky may be cloudy in most parts of the country again. There may be such cloudy weather till next Thursday. 

The cyclone could hit the coasts of the southern Indian states of Andhra and Tamil Nadu. A warning has also been issued there.
