The Zila Parishad Chairman expressed the hope of moving forward with firm steps to build an unprecedented Chattala by consulting with the people's representatives, political and professional leaders of Chattogram, regardless of party.
He said these things in the president's speech at the 1st monthly meeting of the newly elected Parishad of Chattogram Zila Parishad held at Chattogram Circuit House conference room on Monday afternoon.
Chattogram Zila Parishad Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal presided over the opening speech of the meeting and paid tribute to the memory of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who died on August 15, November 3 and August 21 and the best children who gave their lives in all the democratic movements of Bengali and the heroes of Awami politics including Chattogram.
He said, I have nothing to get new at this mature age. I want to decorate Chattogram with my heart. We want full cooperation of Chattogram people in this action. Any problem can be solved if we are sincere in fulfilling our responsibilities from our own position through honesty.
Announcing the adoption of zero tolerance policy against drugs and corruption, he said, we need to reawaken education, literature and culture with adequate field arrangements for young students.
Referring to the government's willingness to make our Chattogram a liveable city in all aspects, he said, there should be a mind-set of accepting anything beautiful and discarding the ugly. What is beautiful and beneficial for the country, for Chattogram must be accepted.
He said that the Zila Parishad will undertake important activities in various fields to make this slogan of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a reality.
Zila Parishad executive officer, executive engineer, newly elected members, upazila chairman, upazila executive officer, municipal mayor and municipal executive officers were present in the meeting.
