Cracks have developed at various places in the Meherpur municipal bus terminal. Due to the slight rain, the water deposited on the roof is falling inside. Other places are also being destroyed for lack of preservation. Although constructed 5 years ago, the bus terminal has not been inaugurated yet. Terminal concerned said the bus terminal has to be renovated to start. On the other hand, traffic on the old bus stand caused jam and accidents in the city.

It has been known that the terminal started construction under the Meherpur Municipality UGI project on 1.40 acres of land on the outskirts of the city on Meherpur-Chuadanga road at 15 June in 2010. Soil filling and terminal buildings were constructed at a cost of Tk. 72 lakh.  From the municipality's own funds, the boundaries of the terminal were constructed at a cost of Tk. 26 lakh 66 thousand, police boxes and restaurants were constructed at a cost of Tk. 15 lakh 42 thousand.

The terminal building has passenger seating areas, ticket counters, wash room and toilets, prayer houses, hotels and a few shops. Wash room and toilet are going to be wasted for not being used for a long time. In addition, several cracks have been reported at different places on the roof of the building. Rain water is falling down  inside  the building. As a result, it has become unusable for the passengers. It has been known that the terminal of the bus has been visible when the UGI project is completed. A year and a half ago, the municipality took initiative to start the bus terminal. However, for invisible reasons it has not been launched yet.

As the old bus-stand did not have enough space, the traffic jam caused the local administration to urge the municipality to start the terminal at another place. The bus-truck owners associations also agreed with the decision to build the terminal. It was decided to put the local buses to the terminal. Simultaneously, 9 motor repair garages were opened at the terminal. As a result, Holt buses and repair buses are now being kept in the terminal.

The tea-shopkeeper at Meherpur bus terminal Jamal Uddin Babu said, about three years ago, the former mayor allocated shop to us. The shop is running through the purchase of bus-truck helpers and drivers, who come in terminal to repair their vehicles. Unless the terminal is operational, it is difficult to sustain business here.

It has been known, some additional installations, including yard, lighting and surface drain are still required to operate the terminal. The municipality could not complete the work due to lack of funds. In Meherpur district, there are more than 100 long away transit, 130 local buses and more than 100 trucks. Besides, there are local buses of Chuadanga and Kushtia district owners as well as transportation of owners from different districts. Besides, local buses and transport buses from outside district come to Meherpur. Due to lack of terminals, many accidents take place due to parking of a large number of buses on the city's main roads.

Asked about this, Meherpur Municipal Mayor Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said that the former mayor wasted money in the name of building a terminal.
