Covid infection rate 16.62pc

Bangladesh registered 60 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am on Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached 13,282 with the latest figure. 

The country recorded 3,956 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 837,247 according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The death rate now stands at 1.59 percent in the country. The current positivity rate stands at 16.62 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.41 percent, added the release.

The number of fatalities and the number of infections has increased significantly compared to a day earlier. The country recorded 50 deaths and 3,319 infections on Tuesday.

Among the 60 deceased, 36 were men, and 24 were women. Of the victims, 55 died in different hospitals of the country, while five died at home.

17 of the deceased were from the Rajshahi division, 14 from Khulna, eight each from Dhaka and Chattogram, six from Sylhet, four from Rangpur and three were from Mymensingh division.

A total of 23,807 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.

During this period 2,679 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 773,752 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 92.42 percent.

As of Wednesday, 3,839,931 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 177,470,620 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
