Covid deaths lowest in 40 days

Bangladesh registered 37 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday taking the death toll to 11,833. 

The death rate now stands at 1.54 percent in the country, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday. 

The country recorded 1,682 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 7,70,842, added the release. 

The positivity rate rose to 8.89 percent. The total positivity rate stands at 13.77 percent.

Of the 37 deceased 23 were men and 14 were women. Of them, 36 died while undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country, while one died at home.

Among the victims 19 were from Dhaka division, 11 from Chittagong, two each from Rajshahi and Sylhet, and one each from Khulna, Barisal, and Mymensingh divisions.

A total of 17,013 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.

At least 2,178 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 7,04,341 and the recovery rate at 91.37 percent.

As of Friday, 3,271,497 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 156,751,627 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
