Covid deaths and infection increases again

Bangladesh registered seven more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday which is the highest in a month. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,070 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 509 new infections in the meantime, which is also the highest in over two and a half months.  

The total number of people infected has reached to 1,585,027, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The number of infections is also the highest in over two and a half months. 

The current positivity rate stands 2.25 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.82 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the deceased four were male and three were females. Of the deceased, five were from Dhaka and one each from Rajshahi and Chattogram division. 

A total of 22,667 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday. 

Some 395 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,548,811 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.72 percent.

As of Thursday, 5,441,496 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 285,047,440 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
