Covid claims 15 lives in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered 15 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Thursday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,288 with the latest figure.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 15,807 new infections, taking the total number of people infected to 1,747,331, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

The current positivity rate is 31.98 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.19 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.62 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the deaths, eight were reported in the Dhaka divisions, three in Chattogram, two in Rajshahi and one each in Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

A total of 49,425 samples were tested across the country till 8am Thursday. 

Some 1,037 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,561,043 people recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 89.34 percent.

As of Thursday, 5,647,515, people died of Covid-19 across the world and 363,723,230 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
