The heinous attack on Chinese citizens at a power plant in Patuakhali's Kalapara upazila on Tuesday noon, is completely a deep rooted conspiracy against the long standing tradition of Bangalee, said conscious citizens. They opined that the Banglaee nation has a unique tradition of hospitalities to their guests irrespective of religion, caste and other identities.

But Tuesday’s attack on the Chinese nationals is clearly a contradiction of such tradition. The most of the countrymen pose the divine sprit of hospitalities to all the guests, especially for the foreigners who visit Bangladesh for various reasons. After the deadly militant attack in Holey Artisan café in 2016, most of the Japanese workers had left Bangladesh immediately. But after hard efforts of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, all Japanese nationals have returned and working safely in Bangladesh.

But unfortunately there are small section of the people who does not believe in the spirit of Bangalee nation. BNP-Jamaat nexus are leading these sections of the narrow-mined people, who used to keep enemy type minds for their guests. The Law Enforcing Agencies are investigating whether any anti-liberation forces had instigated the Tuesday’s violence attacks against the Chinese citizens who were working for the betterment of Bangladesh’s power and energy sectors.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post on Thursday Additional Police Superintendent ( Kalapara Circle) said,” We are investigating whether any vested quarters had instigated local workers to carry attack against the Chinese workers.” He however denied to disclose details for the sake of proper investigation. A senior journalist of the country said the anti-liberation forces are misleading common people in the name of religion.

They are keeping these people far away from the spirit of Bangalees and liberation forces for long times. These types of attacks are the ultimate result of the continuous ill-efforts by the fundamental forces. These evil forces never want to see Bangladesh reaches to developed country, a dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who had sacrificed his whole life for the development of the Bangalee nation.

Local sources said in Barishal region, war criminal kingpin Delwar Hossain Sayeedi and other top brass war criminals have huge number of fanatic followers. Though Sayeedi is currently in jail after being convicted life term for his crimes against humanities including rape and murder during the war of liberation in 1971, his son Masood Sayeedi, former Upazila Chairman of Indurkani in Pirojpur district , was leading the fanatic supporters of his father and Jamaat-Shibir.
Some conscious citizens are suspecting that the BNP-Jamaat may instigated the ordinary workers by circulating baseless propaganda against Chinse workers of murdering local workers. As a result, the local workers vandalized the valuables of the power plant and attacked against the innocent Chinese citizens who were working there peacefully.

Following the attack, the construction work of the power plant was stopped till filing the report at 8: pm Thursday . About the false rumors which was circulated after the death of a local worker, Md Matiul Islam Chowdhury Deputy Commissioner of Patuakhali said,” After any such incident, many rumors may be circulated.”

But we are investigating the incident, he said adding, the probe committee will submit it’s report within seven working days. Responding to a question, he said, “ The situation is now quite normal.” Additional Deputy Inspector General Atiqa Islam, who is also the Commanding Officer of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-8 was asked about the motive of circulating baseless propaganda of murdering local worker by Chinese workers.

But she denied to comment over phone and advised this correspondent to talk to local SP. A Chinese electrician was killed and seven other employees of 1320 MW Payra Power Plant were injured in a clash between Bangladeshi and Chinese employees in Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila on Tuesday. Zang Jon Seng, 26, died of excessive bleeding at Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Among the injured, Jang Yang Khang was initially first rushed to Kolapara Upazila Health Complex and Patuakhali General Hospital. Later he along with other Chinses workers were including Injured employees Zang Hua, 34, Zang Sing Than, 25, Jhang Hu, 26, Ju Jhang, 54, Lin Kumu, 27 shifted in capital’s Apollo Hospital on Wednesday.

The incident took place following a rumour that a local employee was killed by Chinese men. However, police said Bangladeshi worker Sabindra Das, 32, died around 3:00pm on Tuesday after falling from a height of around 70 feet. Amid baseless rumours that he was killed by Chinese employees, Bangladeshi workers along with some locals chased the foreign workers.

A clash broke out soon, leaving six Chinese and two Bangladeshi employees injured. Around 2,700 Chinese and 6,000 Bangladeshi nationals work at the site.
Three separate committees have been formed to probe into the incident. The separate probe panels have been formed by the district administration, police administration and the Payra Port Authority. Additional police have also been deployed to avoid further clashes.
