Construction work of 10-storied Shailkupa Diabetic Hospital was inaugurated on Friday noon. Upazia Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Usman Gani inaugurated the work as the chief guest in a simple ceremony at Hazampara area of Shailkupa municipality in Jhenidah.
Presided over by vice president of Shailkupa diabetic association AZM Raqibul Hasan Bakul, General Secretary of the hospital SM Kobad, Jhenidah diabetic hospital management committee president Mir Nasir Uddin, UNO’s father Jahidur Rahman, vice chairman of Shailklupa upazila parishsad Jahidunnabi Kalu among others attended as special guests.
Retired headmaster of Kancherkole High School Jamil Rashid, Advocate Ismail Hossain, Osman Ali, Hafizur Rahman and Serajul Islam among others spoke. Shailkupa city Degree College principal Tofazzel Hossain conducted the programme as the facilitator.
The speakers said that most of the people, especially elderly people, have been suffering from diabetes and some other complicated diseases. Lack of awareness about the health education and ignorance was mainly liable for the increasing of the disease.
They said diabetic hospital and such other welfare centres were built up with the cooperation of the well to do people and assistance from the government which have been contribution much for the ailing people.
The under construction Shailkupa Diabetic Hospital will play role in ensuring better and modern treatment facilities and provide awareness services for the people, they said.
