A vested quarter and a self-interest group in an ulterior motive are hatching deep conspiracy against the current Awami League (AL)-led grand alliance government by creating obstacles and thwart the ongoing massive development work, tarnishing the image and goodwill in the global arena.

Local AL leaders and elected representatives of Barkal upazila of Rangamati district came up with allegations to the local newsmen against few dishonest petty party’s conspirators after publication of reports in some newspapers about irregularities and corruption in execution of development schemes by the Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC) authority.

Chairman of Bhusionchara Union Parisahd Md Mamunur Rashid Mamun told Bangladesh Post that few petty dishonest workers were trying to catch fish in a trouble water. Intentionally, they spreading false propagandas against Sabir Kumar Chakma, president of Barkal upazila AL and former councilor of RHDC.

Conspirators made confused of few local journalists by supplying unauthentic, baseless and fabricated information about irregularities and embezzlement of money by Sabir Kumar during implementation of upliftment schemes at different unions in Barkal upazila, claimed Mamun.

Recently, reports were published in daily Jugantor, Amader Shomoy and Purbodesh, a regional based newspaper published from Chattogram, on irregularities and corruption in implementing projects from RHDC in the last few fiscal years.

With instigation from a vested quarters and to reap their self-benefit, Doyal Kumar Chakma, Md. Rafique, Bellal Hossain, Alamgir and Motaleb were doing all of these conspiracies, alleged Mamun.

He further said that massive development took place in Barkal when Sabir Kumar was a member of RHDC. Such tremendous development never had taken place in the upazila earlier. Starting from development and construction roads, bridge, culverts, temple, mosque, Buddhist monastery, school, madrasa and distribution sewing machines to the ultra-poor destitute women. Moreover, numerous small income generating schemes implemented for the interest of making jobless and workless people self-reliant.

Merely after biased from a certain vested quarter, conspirators were trying to destroy the personal image and goodwill of AL president Sabir, claimed Mamun.

Local AL leader and UP member of ward no 7 in Bhusionchara Md. Abu Sayed, said members of the inquiry team came here and visited all schemes. They found real pictures of executed schemes during visiting various spots and they were pleased as everything had been done as per schedules of tenders.

In my ward, work of Sarkarpara and Vandaripara roads, a bridge and a madrasa in Amtoli have implemented properly. All of these have been inspected by the team, said UP member Abu Mayed.

Ward president of AL Md. Anwarul, panel chairman of Bhusionchara UP Abdus Syed Talukder and Monir Hossain echoed the same.

Talking to Sabir Kumar Chakma, president of Barkal upazila AL, he said some people I don’t want to mention their names were trying to make me politically defaulter and ruin my image and goodwill by spreading false propagandas against me. They were in a mission to thwart development works and tarnish the image of the government.

After publication of reports, an inquiry team from Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry went to Rangamati and visited almost all projects at filed level jointly with RHDC authority. It had found noting anomalies or corruption and the authenticity of the reports that published in three news papers, said Regan Chakma, sub-assistant engineer in RHDC.

“We visited all schemes by going to the spots but we found everything is alright. As per tender procedures, contractors did their works appropriately, said an official and a team members of CHT affairs ministry, on condition of anonymity.
