College student killed in Rangamati road crash

A college student was killed and four others were injured seriously when a Ranirhat bound truck pushed a CNG-run three-wheeler on Chattogram-Rangamati road at Kalabagan area in Ghagra union under Kawkhali upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

 The deceased was identified as Asinching Marma, 20, a BSS (Hons) student of Rangamagti Government College, daughter of Thoai Ching Marma of village Perachhara in Kalampoti union under Kaukhali upzila.

The injured persons were identified as driver of CNG auto-rickshaw Abdul Aziz, Dulal Miah, Akhtari Begum, Shilomoni Chakma and two years old Tanvir were admitted to Rangamati general hospital.

Critically injured river of CNG auto-rickshaw Abdul Aziz and Dulal Miah  were shifted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital on Sunday soon after admission at Rangamati district hospital, said Shawkat Akbar, residential medical officer of Rangamati general hospital.

The accident occurred when a speedy truck (Chattametro-Ta-11-8184) from Rangamati district town pushed a CNG-run three wheeler (Chattogram-Tha-12-8027) which was  coming from opposite direction at Kalabagan area at around 10:00 am, leaving one passenger killed  on the spot and injuring four others seriously, said Assistant Sub-Inspector and investigation officer Md. Harun of Kaukhali police station.

Being informed, police from Kawkhali upazila rescued the injured people with the help of locals and sent them to Rangamati district hospital.

SI Harun said that the driver of the killer truck was driving his vehicle recklessly and pushed the auto-rickshaw. Our police seized the truck from the spot. However, the driver fled the scene soon after the accident, adds Harun.
