Civil society members, environmental organizations and locals on Thursday extended thanks and gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving directions to cancel the decision of constructing building of Kalabagan Thana on Tetultala playground at Kalabagan in the capital.

They gave the thanks at a press conference at Tetultala ground around 2.30pm.

Dr Zafarullah Chowdhury, social activist Rasheda K Chowdhury, architect Mobashwer Hossain, Syed Rizwana Hasan and Syeda Ratna were present, among others.

They also showed respect to the premier by standing for a few moments.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Zafarullah Chowdhury urged the home minister and Dhaka south city mayor for taking measures to make the ground congenial for using as playground for children.

He said public charitable trust Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) will also extend cooperation to do so.

Architect Mobashwer Hossain said the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), a professional organization for architects, will also extend all-out cooperation in turning the ground into a modern playground.

Rasheda K Chowdhury, also a former adviser to a caretaker government, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina again has proven that she is the daughter of Bangabandhu.

She said an Eid-reunion will be arranged at the ground with the participation of all after the Eid-ul-Fitr.
