Criminal Investigation Department of Bangladesh Police in an overnight drive arrested two alleged killers in connection with killing a night inside a chine restaurant in Naogan town.
The arrested killers were identified as Md Badal and Atikur Rahman alias Shitol.
Shaikh Nazmul Alam, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of CID disclosed it while addressing at a press conference at CID headquarters in the capital Dhaka on Tuesday.
Earlier the victim Ataur Rahman was beaten to death inside the Eden Chinese Restaurant in Naogan town.
Badal was arrested from Dhaka’s Amin Bazar while Shitol was nabbed from Naogan on Sunday night.
DIG Shaikh Nazmul said, after killing the night guard, the killers went on hiding.
After the incident, we started shadow investigation. Night guard Ataur and assistant cook Badol used sleep on a same room. After the incident, on May 29, chief chef came to the restaurant and saw that main entrance was locked from outside.
He also saw that a key was lying beside the door. At one stage, he entered inside the restaurant and saw Ataur’s body lying on pool of blood. He informed the owner and local police.
During investigation, we came to know that victim Ataur and key accused Shitol had an altercation. Following the dispute, Shitol and his associates beaten Ataur severely leaving him critically injured.
Sensing troubles, the attackers left the restaurant after keeping badly injured Ataur at a room on the third floor of the restaurant.
During the primary interrogation, Badol admitted that there were another four to five attackers who also beaten Ataur.
He however could not identify anyone except Shitol.
Responding to a question, DIG Shaikh Nazmul Alam said, “We yet to confirm about the motive of the murder.”
We shall interrogate the arrested after producing them before a Naogaon court. We shall also try to arrest other absconding killers, he added. After interrogating all of them, we shall confirm about the reason behind the murder, he stated.
