‘CHT Peace Accord a big success of current AL govt’

Chittagong Center for Regional Studies, Bangladesh (CCRSBD) organized a discussion on "26 years of Chittagong Hill Tracts: Importance of upcoming 12th National Assembly Elections for Peace, Harmony, Development and Political Participation".

 Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr.Shireen Akhtar was present as the Chief guestat the programme held at the conference room of CU Vice-Chancellor's office on Wednesday morning.

CU Senate and Syndicate member Professor Dr. Mohammad Abul Manchu presided over the meeting.  CU Law Faculty Dean Prof.Dr. Abdullah Al Farooq, CU Museum Director Prof.Dr. Mohammad Bashir Ahmed and CU Nazrul Research Centre Director Prof.Dr. Mohammad Anwar Sayedalso spoke.CU student ParthaPratim Mahajan moderated the programme.

CU VC said, "The Hill Peace Accord is one of the countless successes of the present government. The anarchy and disorder were prevailed in various towns in the hilly areas for long; Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary leadership and prudence led to the end of the peace treaty. "Peace has returned between the tribes living in the hilly areas and other tribal people."

She said, "After the mountain peace agreement, the quality of life of the people in the region has development in all areas, including schools, colleges, hospitals and communication systems".  Various clauses of the peace agreement have been implemented while the remaining clauses are in process of implementation.

 "Irrespective of caste, religion, tribe, our big identity is that we are all Bangladeshis".  CU Vice-Chancellor called for the continuation of the overall development and progress of the country through the spontaneous participation of the citizens of the country, including the hill people, regardless of party affiliation, in the upcoming 12th  national parliament election to build the Sonar Bangla of the father of the nation's dream and to build a smart Bangladesh announced by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

CU Senate and Syndicate Members, Teachers Association Leaders, Registrar, College Inspector, Hall Provost and House Tutors, Department Presidents, Institute and Research Center Directors, Proctors and Assistant Proctors, Teachers, CU Association Leaders, Officers, Students,  Journalists from print and electronic media were present.
