Chinese artistes stage Tagore’s Chitra

Promoting the mutual understanding and friendship between China and Bangladesh, Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has launched the China Culture Month 2019 programme which kicks off on Sunday. The month-long programme features drama exchange of China-Bangladesh University students, China-Bangladesh theme cultural exhibition.

As a part of the China Culture Month 2019 programme, artistes of China and Bangladesh staged Rabindranath Tagore’s two popular plays at the Experimental Theatre Hall Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital yesterday.

Peking University of China staged the play ‘Chitra’ at 4pm, while Loko Natyadal from Bangladesh staged ‘Rath Yatra’ at 6:30pm. Directed by Hou Jue, the play ‘Chitra’ has been written by Pan Ayuan.

On the other hand, written by Rabindranath Tagore, Liaquat Ali Lucky has directed the play ‘Rath Yatra’. The cast of the play includes Abu Bakar Bakshi, Bipul Kumar Das, Masud Sumon, Azizur Rahman Sumon, Musa Rubel, Fazlul Haque and others.
