Chief of Army Staff inspects army patrol

Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed visited the army patrol activities in Mymensingh district on Tuesday and exchanged greetings with the Army personnel on duty there.

The Army Chief expressed satisfaction over the role and activities of the army, administration and law enforcement in the second phase of ‘Operation Covid Shield’ in Mymensingh area. 

He believes that the Bangladesh Army would always stand by the people and work closely with the administration and law enforcement agencies to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Chief of Army Staff was accompanied by General Officer Commanding Army Training and Doctrine Command Lieutenant General SM Matiur Rahman, Area Commander Ghatail Area Major General Syed Tareq Hossain, and Station Commander Mymensingh Station Brigadier General Mahbub. 

He also exchanged views with the Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation, Divisional Commissioner, BGB Sector Commander, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police during the visit.

The army has been deployed across the country from July 1, to assist the civil administration and law enforcement agencies in preventing the transmission of Covid-19. In this context, army members of Army Training and Doctrine Command are conducting regular patrols in Mymensingh district. 

In addition to conducting patrols, the Bangladesh army is distributing food items from its own funds to families affected by the pandemic and providing medical treatment by setting up temporary medical camps in different areas.
