Cheques were distributed among the farmers who provided paddy at government food godown in Sadar upazila of Narail on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Narail Anjuman Ara was present as the chief guest at the cheque distribution programme at the Sadar Upazila Food Godown premises. District Food Officer Sheikh Monirul Hassan presided over the function while officer-in-charge of the food godown Tarun Bala and others were present.
Shikha Biswas, a farmer from Mitna village of Narail Sadar upazila, said that without any harassment, she provided 25 mounds of paddy to the government food godown. She received a cheque of Taka 26 thousand on Wednesday for supplying 25 mounds of paddy.
DC Anjuman Ara expressed satisfaction over the quality of rice and paddy purchased by the government food officials. District Food Officer Monirul Hassan officially handed over the procurement sample rice to the Deputy Commissioner. After paying the cheque, the chief guest distributed 25 blankets to the workers at the food godown.
Food Office sources said, the target for procurement of 1,975 metric tonnes of paddy in the current season in Narail Sadar Upazila. Already, procurement of 1,884 tonnes of paddy has been completed. District Food Office sources said, additional 300 metric tonnes of paddy has been allocated for purchase in the district in the current session.The procurement was started December 20 last year which will continue till February 28.
