Mahbubul Alam has been re-elected as the president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce. The election result was announced on Monday and with this, he has been elected president for the fifth time.
Md. Ruhul Amin, Managing Director of Saif Power Tech Limited and Syed Mohammad Tanvir of Pacific Jeans have been elected as the Senior Vice President the Vice-President.
The chamber presidium election was held at the World Trade Center in Agrabad on Tuesday under the supervision of Chittagong Chamber Election Board Chairman Nurun Newaz Selim and newly elected director AKM AkterHossain. Election Board members Sarwar Hossain Jamil and Mohammad Wahid Alam were present at the time.
Sunday was the last day to submit nomination papers as per the election schedule of Chittagong Chamber. Only 24 nomination papers were submitted against 24 director posts.
The country's second largest trade organization is run by 24 directors in 4 categories. Of these, 12 are from the Ordinary Group, 6 from the Associate Class, 3 from the Town Association Group and 3 from the Trade Group. The Presidium of the Chamber consists of one President, one Senior Vice-President and one Vice-President.
