Century old mango tree cut down without permission

A headmaster allegedly cut a  100 years old mango tree without permission at Atowary in Panchagar.

Violating the rules, the headmaster cut the 100 years old tree showing a resolution passed by the Managing Committee of Atowari Government Primary School.

Local people filed an objection against the headmaster and said that she sold the tree only Tk. 4000 but its original price is more about Tk. 40000.  They also raised a question that, why they sold that age old tree while another two uprooted trees have been laying down for

two years.

Laila Anjuman, Headmaster of the school, and Md Ruhul Amin, President of the Managing Committee, said that a broken bunch of the tree fell on the school’s roof and so they cut the brunch after getting permission of Upazila Education Officer. While they tried to cut the bunch, the tree became uprooted.

They denied the allegation of selling the tree.

Md Abdul Latif, Upazila Education Officer, said that he did not give permission to cut the tree.

Some local people protested cutting the tree by the headmaster of the school. They said that the tree is a century old tree. The incident done by the headmaster is

unexpected.
