Selling and buying of sacrificial animals have already gained momentum in all the cattle markets of the district as only two days are left for the holy Eid-ul-Adha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims, reports BSS.

A large number of sacrificial animals including bull, buffalo, oxen and goats were brought for selling in different markets of the district.

Traders said like previous years, a huge number of cattle are available in the markets and their prices are reasonable.

District livestock office sources said the cattle markets are witnessing a record supply of sacrificial animals as farmers of the district boosted up production of local animals to meet its growing demand during Eid-ul-Adha festival.

According to the sources, many farmers, especially the marginalized farmers have shown keen interest for rearing different animals including bulls, buffalo, goats and oxen after getting financial assistance from government and non-government organizations.

Special security measures were taken to maintain law and order in and around the cattle markets across the district, superintendent of Police (SP) Rifat Rahman Shamim told BSS.

“Apart from this step, we have deployed several teams of traffic police under a special traffic management network to control traffic congestion around cattle markets in the district town,” he said.
