In order to implement the government's zero tolerance policy against corruption, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is willing to propel forward to uproot corruption from the organization.

For a long period of time, some corrupt CAAB officials have been involved in crimes such as corruption, gold smuggling, drug peddling and human trafficking, thereby delaying development projects and others. This is not only defaming the organization but also halting the development projects.

It is not the first time that we have

witnessed such pejorative

corruption reports against CAAB

The level of corruption is astonishing to say the least. However, what is correspondingly worrying is the fact that CAAB is a very significant organization which is directly related with the safety and security of people’s lives. Corruption, poor level of maintenance or outdated aircrafts can cost peoples’ lives. Also smuggling of gold can lead to loss of tax revenue for the government.

It is not the first time that we have witnessed such pejorative corruption reports against CAAB but no tangible action has been taken so far to save this organization from this deep hole. It is time to take strict measures against the powerful clan inside CAAB who consistently get richer with their wrong doings. Top bosses of CAAB must be held accountable for the level of mismanagement and irregularities happening in their organization.

Now to save CAAB from this low, it is needed to form a standing committee of specialists to constantly scrutinize and monitor the organization to rescue from these wrong doers.
