Your daughter Rodela sang with you on various occasions. Do you take Rodela to the events on purpose?
Recently, I took Rodela to an event on Channel i. It was a pre-recorded event. Rodela sings with me on television as well as on stage shows. Prior to that, Rodela participated in several stage shows with me in Australia. It's not like I to take her with me on purpose. Rodela was invited along with me to sing during the show.
How does it feel to sing together at the same event with your daughter?
I cannot explain how I felt when Rodela was born. Now Rodela is with me when I go to various events or give interviews on television. I have a strange feeling that I cannot describe. I feel happier when Rodela and I are invited to an event or recording together, as opposed to being invited alone. Rodela is more important to me than my career, my fame, everything.
In the meantime, is there any new song that Rodela wants to release?
Two songs by Rodela have already been released. We wanted to release a patriotic song last December but the song was not made as the music director was busy. Rodela wants to record a new song for Pahela Boishakh.
Have you ever thought about releasing a track or album together?
I still haven't thought about releasing a song together. Because Rodela's tone has not matured yet. It may take a few more years. And nobody offered me regarding that. I talked to a few places but that didn't work out. If we could, it would have been nice. Rodela is my child. I am more aware of her career than I am about mine. Since she is my child I am more concerned about her career.
How is Rodela developing as an artist in your eyes?
She still hasn’t developed enough to give her best performance. She is still learning. But she has a good sense of music. She understands the melody and rhythm of the music very well. It is very important to understand these things. She can make her own judgment. If she can utilize her talent then I believe Rodela will be a good artist. Rodela's tone is different from mine.
Tell us about your new song.
I recently recorded two songs on the same day. Before that, I did four songs in one day. After a long time I gave voice to two songs on the same day. The song will be released under the banner of Rongon Music. Jamal Hossain has written the two songs. Hridoy Hasin composed and tuned one song and the other was tuned by Ovi Akash and composed by Mushfique Litu.
Why are you doing fewer film songs?
I did not sing for any of the new films. It's not that I am not doing film songs anymore. Just haven’t been able to sing for cinema lately. There haven’t been any songs according to my budget.
Which one is more important to you, the budget or the song?
Budget and song are both important for me.
Can you elaborate?
I'm an artist by profession. Why will the budget not be the key to me? People can compromise when they want to become known. I want to get recognition, so even though it is less money I work on the song. This is usually the case for many. I didn't do this from the beginning of my career. Many people bad mouth me and say that Nancy does not make money.

Film songs can transform an artist's career. This is why many artists take lower fees. You are the only exception it seems.
Many legendary artists of our country regularly sing in movies. Now they are suffering from financial problems. We should learn from that. An artist should work so that they don’t have to rely on others during their old age.
