For disobeying Brick making and brickfield establishment (control) (amendment) Bill and Environment Conservation Act, Department of Environment has demolished a brickfield at Baniyachong Upazila in Habiganj on Thursday.
Director of Department of Environment, Sylhet, Ishrat Jahan Panna and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Baniyachong, Motiur Rahman Khan carried out this raid. During this raid, near Ratna area beside Habiganj-Baniyachang road the brickfield named “Abid Atia Brickfield” was demolished. At that time many bricks were demolished also. AC (Land) Motiur Rahman said, the license of the brickfield is in the name of Kawsar Chowdhury, brother of Baniyachang UP Chairman Abul Kashem Chowdhury. It was being operated disobeying Brick making and brickfield establishment (control) (amendment) Bill, 2013, and Environment Conservation Act, 1995. Even the license for year 2019 also have not been renewed. Apart from that, the furnace of the kiln was built against the respective law. For these resons the kiln has been demolished.
