Bourses edge down further

Country’s capital bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed Monday edging down further, as investors continued their selling trend regarding large-cap companies.

“Market continued it’s down ward vibe as many investors rebalanced their portfolio out of caution because of telecom regulator’s strict stance, soaring non-performing loans and falling foreign portfolio investment,” said market operator, EBL Securities, reports BSS.

However, market turnover increased by 33 percent and stood at Taka 4.4 billion by the end of the session. The core index, DSEX closed at 5070.68 points with a loss of 25.09 points. Besides, the two selective indices, DSE30 decreased by 8.62 points and DSES decreased by 5.07 points to stand at 1791.43 points and 1178.36 points respectively.

A total number of 110,047 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 801,33,432 securities. At DSE, 93 securities gained price while 210 declined and 48 remained unchanged. Most of the sectors experienced price correction today. Sector wise performance exposed that IT (1.8%), ceramic (1.4%), jute (0.7%) sectors experienced highest price appreciation while financial institute (-1.8%), telecom(-1.8%) and textile (-1.5%) sector experienced highest price correction.

Investors’ attention mostly was concentrated on pharmaceuticals & chemicals (21.7%), engineering (15.6%) and fuel & power (9.4%) sectors.

The top ten gainers were Intech Limited, Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, Kay and Que, Monno Ceramic, Global Insurance, Monno Stafflers, ITC, Stylecraft, Pragati Life Insurance and Legacy Footwear.

Monno Ceramic topped the turnover list followed by Wata Chemical, Monno Stafflers, JMI Syringes and Medical Devices, National Polymar and Doreen Power Generation and System.

The top ten losers were Zeal Bangla, ICB Investment Bank, IPDC, Tallu Spinning, National Polymar, CAPM IBBL Islamic Mutual Fund, Tunghai Knitting and Dying, Bay Leasing, Sino Bangla and CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund.

The port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) end session with a loss today. CSCX decreased by 55.40 points and CASPI decreased by 87.66 points.

At CSE, a total of 4,749,980 shares and mutual fund of 247 companies were traded, of which 63 issues advanced while 153 declined and 31 issues remained unchanged.
