The dead body of a young woman aged 20-22 years has been recovered from inside a drum abandoned in a water body at the City Haat area under RMP on Friday morning. The identity of the victim could not be identified immediately.
It is learnt, locals watched a human leg peeping through a drum abandoned in a waterbody some 300-yard west of the City Haat beside Amchattar-Kasiadanga bypass road around 9-00 AM Friday and informed police.
Later members of the Police Bureau of Investigation and the CID arrived at the spot and recovered the dead body of a young woman from inside the drum. After preparing the first information report, the dead body was sent to the morgue of RMCH for autopsy.
Saiful Islam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Shah Maskhdum police station informed, the identity of the victim could not be determined. It is presumed that the girl was strangled to death in some place and the dead body was dumped beside the water body in a drum later on.
He said, messages have been sent to all neighbouring police stations to learn the whereabouts of the dead body.
A murder case will also be filed with the police station, said Saiful Islam further.
