Bodies of 4 people recovered in one day in Maheshkhali

Police have recovered the bodies of four people in a day in Cox’s Bazar’s Maheshkhali island upazila. Three of them have been identified.

According to the police, Tofail Mahmud, a student of Chattogram College, went missing after falling from a passenger boat on September 20 after being hit by a fishing trawler at Bakkhali estuary. Later on, Tuesday (September 22) morning, his body was recovered from the Sonadia coast. Tofail is the son of Nagu Miah of Sepahi Para in Chhoto Maheshkhali Union.

The body of a teenager named Delwar Hossain was recovered from Gorokghata Charpara in the upazila on Tuesday. He went missing when a boat sunk two days ago. Delwar Hossain is the son of late Nurul Amin of Chhankhola area of PM Khali union in Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila.

On the same morning, a woman named Alo Rani drowned while taking a bath at Gorakghata’s Babu Dighi in Maheshkhali. Her body was later recovered. Initially, it is believed that the woman died while taking a bath due to illness.

These three bodies have been recovered and handed over to relatives through due process.

On the other hand, the locals informed the police after finding a 45-year-old man wearing shorts and a full-sleeved t-shirt at Mudirchhara Parabon in Chhoto Maheshkhali Tuesday afternoon. Police later recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
