BNP-Jamaat out to destabilise country

In a bid to create hindrance to ongoing development works, BNP-Jamaat alliance cadres are engaged in subversive activities throughout the country. The alliance is trying to create anarchy again in the country to kill some targeted persons using top terrorists. As part of their conspiracy, they allegedly hired a listed top terror who is currently controlling city’s underworld from Dubai.

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police came to know of the dangerous information after arresting three armed terrors from city’s Khilgaon area on Friday night with four foreign fire arms including a military grade semi-automatic rifle. Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP (DB-East) Shahidur Rahman confirmed the arrests on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Khan Md Faisal, son of Imdadul Haque, hailing from Aijghati village under Rupsha upazila in Khulna, Md Ziaul Haque Rubel and his brother Md Jahed Al Abedin, sons of late Joynal Abedin, hailing from Khilgaon of the capital. DB is conducting raids to arrest Mamun, Moyeen, Tarfif and Anik. The special drive was instructed by Deputy Commissioner of DMP (DB-East) Elias Sharif ADC Jewel Rana of the DB’s same division supervised the whole operation.

According to the sources, some BNP-Jamaat leaders are regularly communicating with the absconding listed top terrors, who are accused in dozens of criminals cases, including murder, arms smuggling, terrorism and extortion. Intelligence agencies said the top terror has assigned his local coordinator SM Omar Faruq alias Lolat. As per his instruction, Lolat received the arms from a close associate of the top terror.

They planned to kill a highly influential leader of the ruling Awami League backed youth organization Bangladesh Awami Jubo League’s Dhaka City Unit. He is also a ward councilor of the Dhaka South City Corporation. Their second target was an influential contractor, who is also involved in ruling party politics. They also planned to kill Rana Mollah, another Jubo League leader.

This plan of political killings was only a test case of creating instability in the country to embarrass the government. Sources claimed that as the political situation of the country is quite calm and at the moment, the anti-government elements are trying to carry out destructive activities through hiring listed top terrors living abroad. They have already sent huge amount of money through illegal financial system to the top terror living in Dubai.

The top terror is leading a luxurious life there. He regularly receives huge amount of money from some pro-BNP-Jamaat businessmen. A detective official on condition of anonymity said the Dubai-based top terror planned to kill the Jubo League leader and pro-Awami League businessman using guns. But the killer groups of the listed terror had plans to first approach the vehicles of the targeted Jubo League leader and businessman in guise of baggers. Both the Jubo League leader and the businessman move about in high security as they have received threats on their lives.

They had plans to halt the private cars of the targeted persons seating on wheel chair like physically challenged baggers. Once the cars of the targets would stop, they would start indiscriminate firing on their victims. But before opening fire, members of the killer groups would hurl powerful bombs so that no one would dare to come to save the victims.

A DB official said absconding criminal Anis is an expert in making powerful bombs and other Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He is a leader of banned Purbo Banglar Communist Party which is an outlawed Maoist militant group of the country. He was in jail but a few months back, he was released from the jail. Detectives suspect that he was released from jail as part of the plan of massive targeted killings. Arrested Jewel and Rubel, two duos, are close associates of the Dubai-based listed top terror.

They also stayed in Dubai with the listed top terror for some time. Lolat is the main local contact of the listed top terror who runs the terror network from Dubai. He is also a top leader of banned Purbo Banglar Communist Party. He mainly carries out every order of the listed top terror. Detective officials repeatedly requested Bangladesh Post not to disclose the names of the targeted persons so that political leaders do not get panicked.

They also requested not to publish the details of the listed top terror because if his name is published in the media, his rate of extortions will be dramatically increased. ADC Shahidur Rahman, who led the anti-illegal arms recovery operation said, “We had produced the arrested armed cadres before a Dhaka Court seeking a seven day remand for each. But the court granted four day remand for each.” We shall come to know the names of absconding members of the gangs by grilling them in the police custody, he added.

ADC Jewel Rana said, “We shall work to know why these sophisticated arms and huge ammunitions were brought to the capital.” He however refused to disclose elaborately for the sake of proper investigation. Responding to a question regarding BNP-Jamaat link behind the huge arms recovered by DB, DC Elias Sharif, who instructed the operation said, “We are investigating keeping all aspects in our mind.” We shall continue similar drives for the sake of the country, he added.

Earlier on June 30, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) led by Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Jahangir Alam, head of the Arms Enforcement Team of the Special Action Group under the CTTC, arrested two cadres of BNP-Jamaat from in front of Rajdhani Super Market in the city’s Wari area on June with a brand new AK-22. The arrested were identified as Md Saidul Islam Majumder, 30, son of Md Rafiqul Islam Majumder and Md Kamal Hossain,35, son of Soruj Miah, both hailing from Shuvopur Madhyapara under Kotwali Police Station of Cumilla district.

Local sources confirmed the claim of CTTC officials about the direct Jamaat-BNP link of the arrested criminals and the absconding terror in connection with the arms recovery. Talking to Bangladesh Post, ADC Jahangir said, “AK-22, is a highly sophisticated weapon. This type of weapon was used by the Holey Artisan attackers three years back.” According to our investigation so far, two leaders of Jamaat-Shibir were the customers of the AK-22 rifle, he further said.
According to the court documents, Md Hasib, 33, son of Md Lilu Miah, hailing from Shuvopur Madhyapara, under Kotwali Police Station of Cumilla district, and Kazi Golam Kibriya, pro-Jamaat ward councillor of Cumilla City Corporation were present at the spot to buy the military grade fire arms.

Md Babul Uddin, hailing from Alam Mansion at Jalal Commissioner Lane of Double Mooring Police Station of Chattogram, Sadek Ahmed, hailing from Sholok Bohor under Chawkbazar of Chattogram were also present to hand over the arms to the BNP-Jamaat cadres. Jamaat top cadre Hasib and Jamaat leader Kazi Golam Kibriya were the actual buyers. They came to the capital to buy the arms from arms dealers Sadek and Babul Miah.

CTTC officials came to know that absconding Hasib was once bodyguard of former Jamaat backed parliamentarian Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher of the Cumilla-12 constituency. CTTC came to know that Hasib and Kazi Golam Kibriya were collecting the AK-22 as per the organizational decision of their party Jamaat. Two AK-22 rifles were already handed over to them by the same arms dealers, which is very alarming.

Intelligence agencies suspect that Jamaat-Shibir are secretly enhancing their strength to carry out various deadly attacks. These military grade weapons can be used only for major terrorist attacks against law enforcers and against any targeted government high ups, political leaders and pro-ruling businessmen. About the destructive power of the AK-22, ADC Jahangir said, “Since it is a semi –automatic weapon, one can use both single shot or burst fire.” The AK-22 is a very compact type of fire arm and one can carry it inside a small bag or even under loose clothing.
