The so called opposition political parties (BNP – Jamaat) always dream of toppling the government on every issue. Such ambition was evident in the latest Abrar Fahad murder case when the so called some opposition leaders tried to use innocent agitating students to spread misleading information and divert the legitimate demonstration in the BUET campus into issues that are unlawful.

Such elements are engaged in achieving selfish political gains out of the BUET incident and after meeting all the demands by the government they, are still trying to foment the agitation.

At the time of the height of the agitations soon after Abrar Fahad’s murder, some agitating BUET students had warned about the presence of a vested group embedded among the protesters who were believed to hatch conspiracies and hence pursue anti-government sentiments among the demonstrators.

The intelligence agencies have unearthed the information on a recent coordinated attempt by the so-called opposition leaders to topple the current government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, over the issue of Abrar Fahad murder. A senior official of an influential intelligence agency exclusively shared some information on the issue with Bangladesh Post on Tuesday evening.

Some pro-BNP and pro-Jamaat Facebook and Twitter accounts and pages are spreading propaganda after ‘producing’ video clips on the Abrar murder in order to mislead audience.

Among these, Basher Kellah, Bangladesh Badrul League, Shalsha and Rukhoe Darao Stand Up, are most active in spreading the propaganda among the general students to turn the BUET student movement into an anti-government movement.

Some of these pages, which are actually undercover pages of BNP Jamaat, suddenly became very active after Abrar murder, the intelligence official said.

‘Old Dhaka’ and ‘Gaan’, two music pages, also started uploading some high quality propaganda video clips. These all pages became extremely active after Abrar murder. Huge amount of funds and skilled manpower are being used in the ill motive.

Some anti-movement politicians including Masood Sayeedi, son of convicted top brass war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, BNP leader Golam Maula Rony and Pro Jamaat Supreme Court lawyer Dr Tuhin Malik and Professor Asif Nazrul are also spreading these propaganda video clips using their verified Facebook pages, the intelligence sources said.

The BNP-Jamaat leaders always believe that every such crisis is an opportunity to topple the government and so they become busy in spreading such propaganda. With these motive, BNP-Jamaat leaders are trying to turn the student protest into ultimate anti-movement movement.

The intelligence officer said that this is the first time that after a student murder, a prime minister has taken zero tolerance policy against the killers ignoring their political affiliations. The government has taken all necessary actions in this regard so that no one go unpunished.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself is monitoring the investigation progress of the sensational murder of Abrar Fahad. Getting her instant action, law enforcers have already arrested most of the alleged killers ignoring their political affiliation.

Speaking to Bangladesh Post and sharing their thoughts on the propaganda issue, some leading national security experts gave their opinions as follows.

Major General (Rtd) Abdur Rashid, who heads the Institute of Conflict, Law & Development Studies said, “Every conscious citizen condemned Abrar killing. Most of the demands for seeking justice for Abrar killing were realized. The Authority has also taken prompt initiatives to avoid recurrence of similar incidents in the future.”

Rashid continued, “In our country, some vested quarters always try to divert the genuine issue and turn into political movement without judging its merits.”

He sighted the road safety movements by school and college students on the streets of the capital which many political vested groups had tried to divert to political issues. The current movement is also being diverted into anti-government movement, he said.

Rashid also said, “I don’t think the movement is being continued without any political motive.” Milon Pathan, a young political analyst said, “Many of the killers have already been arrested. Many others will be arrested soon.”

He also said that the process of the Abrar murder trial has started. The trial would soon end we hope. We have gotten the assurance from the high ups of the government. Necessary instruction from the government high ups have also been given in this regard.

He said, “Despite the apparent progress in the trial process, those who are involved in movement, are actually trying to fish in the trouble water.”

“They are trying to turn the student movement into an anti-government movement in a bid to topple down the current elected government,” said Pathan.
