Bhutan keen to import bandwidth from Bangladesh

Bhutan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Rinchen Kuentsyl said Bhutan is interested in importing broadband internet from Bangladesh. 

He came up with the assertion while was paying a call to Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar at his office on Wednesday. The minister assured all possible cooperation in exporting broadband internet bandwidth to Bhutan. 

During the meeting, they discussed various issues of mutual interest, especially technical and commercial issues in the field of telecommunication, including the internet. 

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications described the existing excellent friendly relations between Bangladesh and Bhutan as very significant and historic. He highlighted Bhutan's cooperation in the great Liberation War and its role as the first country to recognize independent Bangladesh. He also expressed deep gratitude to Bhutan for that. 

He said, “The geography, history, heritage and lifestyle of Bangladesh and Bhutan are almost similar. Bangladesh is one of the few countries in the world who achieve successful development in digital technology.” 

He also said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary Digital Bangladesh program has set an example in the world”.  

Mustafa Jabbar further said, “We have ensured digital connection to every union in the country. We have taken initiative to avail the internet access to every village in the country. Bangladesh is now exporting internet bandwidth.” 

The Ambassador spoke of his efforts to take the historic relationship between Bhutan and Bangladesh to a unique height in the coming days. 

He lauded the continuous progress of Bangladesh, especially in the field of digital technology.
