BGB seizes 3.4 kg of meth worth Tk 15 cr in Chuadanga

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 3 kg and 400 grams of crystal meth (ice) worth Tk 15 crores 20 lakhs from Jabannagar upazila of Chudanga district on Thursday.

Members of BGB conducted a drive and searched a bus in front of a flower market in Jibannagar upazila during the drive. The crystal meth was recovered from the bus during the search.

BGB Maheshpur-58 Battalion confirmed the matter through a press release on Thursday afternoon.

The press release said members of Maheshpur BGB learned through a tip-off that a large supply of drugs will be transported to Darshana in the luggage box of a passenger bus of Jashore-Darshana route. Acting on the information, a special patrol team of Maheshpur-58 Battalion divided into two teams and took position on a road in front of a flower market in Jibannagar upazila.

Later, when a Darshana bound passenger bus of Shapla Transport coming from Jashore reached in front of the said flower market in Jibannagar, the patrol team of BGB intercepted the bus. Then they searched the passenger bus and seized a Khaki color box wrapped in scotch tape from behind the right side of bus. The owner of the bus could not be found.

Later, BGB took the box in their office and recovered 3 kg and 400 grams of crystal meth worth Tk 15 cores and 20 lakh.
