BGB-BSF DG-level conference begins today

A director general (DG)-level conference of BGB and BSF will begin at the BGB headquarters in the capital today. Curtain of the conference will be raised at 11.45 am and the three-day conference will be concluded through signing a Joint Record of Discussions (JRD) on June 15, said a BGB media release on Tuesday, reports BSS.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) DG Major General Md Shafeenul Islam will lead a 24-member Bangladesh delegation, including representatives from Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the conference. Border Security Force (BSF) DG Rajni Kant Mishra will lead a 10-member Indian delegation including BSF senior officials and representatives from Indian home and foreign ministries.

The conference agendas include incidents of shooting at unarmed Bangladeshi civilians along the border of two friendly nations, smuggling of arms, ammunition, drugs, detention of Bangladeshis, infiltration into Bangladesh, protection of banks of rivers along the border and taking necessary steps to further increase mutual trust between the two frontier forces.

A friendly Kabadi match will be held between the BGB and BSF at Bir Uttam Fazlur Rahman Khandker auditorium of Pilkhana around 5pm. Besides, an eight-member delegation BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) will visit different activities conducted by Shimanto Poribar Kalyan Samity (SPKS) of BGB. The BSF delegation will leave here for India on June 15.
