BELA lends a helping hand to clean Cox's Bazar beach

The Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) has given a grant of Tk 50,000 to the Cox's Bazar district administration for cleaning Cox's Bazar beach.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Ashraful Afsar, who is in charge of tourism, received the grant on behalf of the district administration on Friday morning.  

Ibrahim Khalil Mamun, Chief Executive of Youth Environment Society (YES) Cox's Bazar, handed  over the grant money on behalf of the Environmental Lawyers Association. Environmentalist HM Nazrul Islam, Editor of Daily Ajker Cox's Bazar Barta was also present there.

After receiving the grant ADC Md. Ashraful Afsar told reporters that the beach is not only for the people of Cox's Bazar, it is an asset of Bangladesh so everyone should come forward like BELA to protect the longest sea beach in the world.

The ADC thanked the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association and its chief executive Syeda Rizwana Hasan on behalf of the Cox's Bazar district administration for coming forward to protect the beach.
