Bangladesh, Uzbekistan will jointly work to develop IT industry

The IT Park, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park authorities will work together on high-tech manufacturing, research and entrepreneurial development. 

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said this at a signing ceremony held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital on Saturday. Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director Syed Zahurul Islam (additional) and Executive Director of IT Park, Uzbekistan IBRAGIMOV Farkhod Zairovicsigned the agreement on behalf for their respective organisations. 

He said, “Recently we visited the Innovation Center in Tashkent to see and learn how Uzbekistan has come a long way in innovation in just four years. We came to learn that they paid close attention to research and innovation, and that they had already invested USD 100 million.”

“IT Park, Uzbekistan will work directly with the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority on G2G collaboration on skills development in Bangladesh. The MoU will enable the startup culture of the two countries to work together on the basis of mutual partnership and cooperation in entering the international market and the two organizations will work together to form a joint funding platform for startups of both countries and organizations,” he added. 

“Training-incubation-mentoring facilities will be provided for emerging startups in both the countries. Under this, a joint technology-based skills development program for youth-government officials and industry experts will be undertaken to enhance skills in emerging technologies (such as cyber security, AI, blockchain, machine learning, etc.),” he added further.

In September, a delegation of Bangladeshi IT professionals led by Salman F. Rahman and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak met with the Uzbek Prime Minister's Adviser on Digital Technology and Innovative Development.

At that time Uzbekistan showed interest in taking information technology or IT and 'IT enabled' services from Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladesh expressed interest in participating in the research and development of the country. Officials of IT Park-Uzbekistan, ICT Department and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority were present at the signing ceremony.
