Bangladesh, Spain celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties

50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Spain were celebrated with music and guitar performance. On the occasion of celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Department of Music of Dhaka University and the Embassy of Spain in Dhaka jointly organized a cultural program on Sunday at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Dhaka University Music Department Chairman Dr Debprasad chaired the programme. Ambassador of Spain assigned to Bangladesh Francisco de Asis Benítez Salas was the special guest.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Ambassador of Spain for organizing a cultural program at Dhaka University on the occasion of celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Spain. Highlighting different aspects of the language and culture of Spain, he said that cultural relations between the two countries will be strengthened in the future through such events.

Spanish Ambassador Francisco de Asis Benítez Salas said that Bangladesh and Spain have had friendly relations for a long time. This relationship will continue in the future. He emphasized on the further expansion of joint education and research activities between Dhaka University and various universities in Spain.

The teachers and students of the music department performed the national anthems of Bangladesh and Spain on the occasion. Then Spain's prominent guitarist Miguel Trapaga performed a guitar show during the programme.
