Riva Ganguly visits Dohar

“Many renowned personalities, statesmen like Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela used to follow the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. He visited here. Mahatma Gandhi was such a personality who tied both the countries. Friendly relation between two countries is historical. 

Riva Ganguly Das, outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, said these  on Bangladesh-India relationship while speaking at a discussion during her visit to Mahatma Gandhi  Sanctuary Great Crematory at Malikanda village under Dohar upazila of Dhaka district on Wednesday.

She said, ' The ideals of Mahtama Gandhi should be proceeded forward. Aiming to achieve this goal, I am trying to learn about Gandhi by attending Seminars in all Gandhi Ashrams of Bangladesh.'

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal who also hailed from Dohar said, a friendly relation between Bangladesh and India was built during the Bangabandhu's time and we are proceeding through that way. ' I had an official meeting with Indian High Commissioner Riva das Ganguly today that meeting is ended in Dohar today'. 

Conducted by Dhaka Zila Parishad Chairman, valiant Freedom Fighter Mahbubur Rahman, the function was attended, among others, by IGP of Bangladesh Police Benzir Ahmed, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Mostafa Kamal, DIG, Dhaka range Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Shahidul Islam, Superintendent of Dhaka district Police Maruf Hossain Sarder,  President of Secchasebak League Nirmal Rangan Guha, Dohar Upazil a Chairman Alamgir Hossain,  OC of Nawabganj Sirajul Islam Sheikh, OC of Dohar  Mostafa Kamal and Dohar Uapzial Muktijoddha Commander Rajab Ali Mollah. 

After visiting the Gandhi Santuary, Indian High Commissioner planted trees at the site with the guests.
