Bangladesh national Under-20 football team had a respectable draw in the AFC age group competition after halting the hosts Bahrain on a goalless draw on Saturday.

The match was held at the Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium on Saturday at 12 O’clock (Bangladesh time) when Bangladesh snatched a valuable point after a 0-0 draw in their Group B opener. Bangladesh will certainly looking to build on the result when they play Bhutan on Monday while Bahrain are next in action against Nepal on Wednesday.

Bahrain had to settle for a 0-0 draw against a gritty Bangladesh, as the visitors played with defensive strategy in whole 90 minutes time. The young booters of Bangladesh, who were determined to have at one point, having only 36 percent ball possessions had to force the strong host sides to share points.

Bangladesh, who were under tremendous pressure in the most of the time and the defenders had to work hard to deal with the strong attacks of Bahrain, faced huge challenge at the last few minutes. Specially, the six minutes injury period was too much challenging time for Bangladesh when the hosts could leave the ground with full three points but it was a bit good luck for Bangladesh boys when a header of Bahrain forward just narrowly missed the cross piece.

Bangladesh had the lone opportunity to score a goal but was failed to utilize the chance when they just stepped on off-side trap.

In the other match in the AFC age group competition of the day Bhutan stunned Nepal with a 2-0 victory in their opener.
