Bangladesh will always be a "strong pillar" of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’, Indian external affairs minister S. Jaishankar has said in his Independence Day message on March 26.
He extended warmest greetings to his Bangladesh counterpart Dr AK Abdul Momen and the government and people of Bangladesh on the 53rd Independence Day.
"Our multifaceted partnership is founded on shared sacrifices. Bangladesh will always be a strong pillar of India’s ‘Neighbourhood First Policy’,” read the message.
High Commission of India in Dhaka also joins the people of Bangladesh in celebrating Bangladesh’s 53rd Independence Day and in remembering the supreme sacrifices made by its people in pursuit of freedom and prosperity.
Indian army fought with Bangladesh to win victory in the 1971 war of independence against Pakistan.
