Bangabandhu sculpture will be set up at Ctg

The 5.7 km long and 120 foot wide port connecting road from the city's Nimtala to the ornamental intersection. The 46th general meeting of the fifth elected council of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) was unanimously decided on naming the road in the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation.

In order to implement and make that decision visible, an initiative has been taken to set up a sculpture of Bangabandhu at Halishahar Borapul Moor. Atiqul Islam Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of the Institute of Charkula University of Chittagong has been given the responsibility.

Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin visited the replica of Bangabandhu sculpture yesterday. Atiqul Islam Chowdhury informed the Mayor about the sculpture. He said the 20-22 foot height sculpture will be made within the next two months. The mayor expressed satisfaction over the progress of the work.

AJM Nasir Uddin said that various schemes are being implemented through different service organizations to make Chittagong a livable and aesthetic city. The Port Connecting Road has been named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangabandhu sculpture will be set up at Borapul.

He said that the CCC is doing child park in the name of Sheikh Russell, the younger son of Bangabandhu in the Pahartali area of the city at a cost of Tk 3.60 crore. There will also be murals of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Russell. 'The greatest achievement of Bengalis in the history of a thousand years is the independence of Bangladesh.

And with the history of this freedom struggle whose name is forever remembered, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation. The mayor said this is an attempt to bring that history to a new generation.
