Bangabandhu’s dream police force in the offing

says Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led government wants to build police force as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as he addressed an anti-militancy, terrorism and narcotics rally here, reports BSS.

“We want to build Bangabandhu’s dream police force as it can ensure people’s security standing by them,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the rally on Nababganj Pilot School and College premises yesterday evening.

Dhaka district police organised the function when Prime Minister’s Advisor on Private Industries and Investment Salman Fazlur Rahman was attended as the guest of honour. With district police superintendent Shah Shafiur Rahman Mizan in the chair, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwari addressed as special guest.

The rally was also addressed, among others, by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range Police Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Abu Saleh Mohammad Ferdous Khan and Chairman of Dhaka Zila Parishad and General Secretary of Dhaka District Awami League Nasir Uddin Jhilu. Referring to terrorists’ emergence before 2008, the minister said “We have seen target killings, religious leaders’ murder and bomb attacks across the country at that time—all these heinous activities are same rooted”. He said anti-liberation forces were behind all the unruly activities in the past, adding that “Those saboteurs have been resisted under the dynamic and able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”. Seeking cooperation from people to control narcotics, Kamal said “We will also be able to contain drug abuses”. During the rally, around 100 people both male and female involved in drug trafficking returned to normal life by giving them in. Earlier, the minister laid foundation stone of office cum residence of Assistant Superintendent of Police of Dohar Circle on the premises of newly constructed police station.
