Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman paved the way for the general people’s participation in politics.
He made the comment at a discussion organized to mark National Mourning Day, at the Department of Social Services in Dhaka on Thursday.
The minister also said anti-liberation forces are still active in the country, long after they had assassinated Bangabandhu.
“Anti-liberation people are still active in the country and are involved in spreading conspiracies. We must resist them,” he added.
Department of Social Services Director General Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir said: “The history of the Liberation War has been distorted for decades. The youths need to be taught the history, so that no one can further distort it.”
He further said that art and essay writing competitions are set to be organized, to help encourage the youth to learn about Bangabandhu
“To know Bangabandhu’s history is to know the history of the Liberation War,” the DG added.
Ministry of Social Welfare Senior Secretary Zuena Aziz said: “Bangabandhu created our nation, and the people should show gratitude for that. If someone really respects Bangabandhu, they should work for the country.
“Employees, officers, all of us have to conduct our responsibilities properly. That is the best way to respect Bangabandhu,” she added.
State Minister for Social Welfare Sharif Ahmed pledged to make Bangladesh a country which is both beautiful and economically developed.
