Bangabandhu Novo Theatre in Rajshahi to open in August

After the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Hi-tech Park, the newly constructed Bangabandhu Novo Theater is the ever-largest big infrastructure in Rajshahi.

Already, construction of the Bangabandhu Novo Theater has been completed along with its internal decoration and it has become visible.

The officials concerned are expecting that the ultramodern technology enriched Bangabandhu Novo Theater will be opened for the visitors within the next one month.

Established on 2.30 acres of land at the frontal portion of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Central Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Novo Theater has raised its head upon completion of its infrastructural development works.

Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department Harun-Or-Rashid said they have completed both the external and internal construction works.

The project titled 'Establishment of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theatre, Rajshahi' is being implemented in Rajshahi metropolis with an estimated cost of Taka 232.73 crore.

Novo Theater Authority and Public Works Department (PWD) have been implementing the project sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The project has been implemented in the scheduled phases of physical infrastructure and equipment placement successfully.

Engineer Harun-Or-Rashid said there is a planetarium connected with the system of modern technology digital projector coupled with scientific and digital exhibits, 5-D simulator theatre, telescope and computerized ticketing and decorating systems in Bangabandhu Novo Theater.

Apart from this, there is a 9-D and 5-D hall, a Mujib Corner and a scientific library and all activities will be monitored through 120 close circuit cameras round the clock.

The novo theater has a 39,500 square-feet basement with parking spaces of 80 cars, the first floor has office blocks, exhibition space and cafeteria while all the second, third and fourth floors have office blocks, 200-seat exhibition space and 160-seat planetarium.

It will also ensure some other requisite amenities like CCTV, 2000-KVA Power substation, 500-KVA generator, three lifts, two escalators and four elevators.

Project Director Azam-E-Sadat said works were completed before the scheduled time and it's expected that it will be opened within the next one month.

He said the present government has adopted the project with the main thrust of expanding knowledge about aeronautics among the people particularly the young generation side by side with building a science and technology based society.

Azam Sadat said the novo theatre would be a centre of excellence for science and technology education as well as entertainment in Rajshahi and the entire northwest region.

He said science and technology as well as space education are a must for the new generation to build the 'Smart Bangladesh' successfully by 2041.

The present government under the dynamic and prudent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very much sincere towards encouraging the young generation as well as students to learn science and technology more and more.
