Bangabandhu Hall inaugurated in UN mission in Darfur

A conference hall named after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was inaugurated in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan, reports BSS. African Union-United Nations Hybrid Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) chief Jeremiah Mamabolo formally inaugurated the ‘Bangabandhu Hall’ at a function recently, said a press release of the United Nations African Union Mission in Darfur.

Mission’s Force Commander Gen. Leonard Ngondi, Police Commissioner Sultan Temuri and senior officials of UNAMID were present on the occasion. While inaugurating the hall, Mamabolo recalled the memories of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of the independent Bangladesh. He also lauded the leadership of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Operation officer of Bangladesh FPU (Formed Police Unite) in the Mission additional SP Masuk Miah told BSS over phone that this was first time that any hall was named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in any UN peacekeeping mission abroad.
