Bangabandhu global cyber security awareness award from next year: Palak

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)-Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Global Cyber Security Awareness Award will be launched from next year, said State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak.

He made the statement on Thursday while speaking at a press conference in New York on the occasion of ‘Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert’ to be held today at the Madison Square Garden, New York, at the initiative of the ICT department and under the management of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.

It was further informed at the press conference was informed that the concert is being organized to commemorate the unique initiative of Pandit Ravi Shankar and George Harrison during the Liberation War.

The State Minister said, “Mobile phones are being exported after producing 90 percent of the domestic demand in the country. Walton is making laptops in Bangladesh. Now Made in Bangladesh is a popular name all over the world.”

He said that this has been possible due to the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy. 

He also mentioned that Bangladesh has now reached a dignified position in terms of poverty and corruption. 

Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “Information technology has always been given importance. In the early hours of March 26, 1971, Bangabandhu used the EPR's wireless system to spread the official declaration of independence across Bangladesh.”

Bikarna Kumar Ghosh, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority presided over the press conference and Consul General of the Bangladesh Consulate General in New York Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam moderated it. 

Members of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Advocate Nurul Alam Ruhul and Aparajita Haque and a2i Policy Adviser Anir Chowdhury was also present during this time, among others.

It was informed at the press conference that the Golden Jubilee Bangladesh Concert will be held on May 6 (today) at the Madison Square. About 4,000 tickets have already been sold.
