BADC allocates 1307 tonnes Boro seeds for Narsingdi district

Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) has allocated 1307 tonnes of Boro seeds for Narsingdi district during the current Robi season. BADC Seed marketing office sources said so far they received 1146,160 kg, reports BSS.

The quality seeds are being sold among the farmers through its 111 registered dealers in the six upazilas of the district. Beside farmers also can buy seeds directly from district seed marketing sale center.

District Seed Marketing office sources said 199.500 kg of Boro seeds has allotted for Narsingdi Sadar upazilla through 21 dealers, 264,000kg allotted for Shibpur upazila through 22 dealers, 102,000 kg for Polash upazilla through 12 dealers, 168,000 kg for Belabo upazilla through 14 dealers, 228,000 kg for Raipura upazilla through 19 dealers and 299,000 kg for Monohardi upazilla through 23 dealers.

Office sources said six varieties of Boro seeds will be sold among the farmers. The seeds are BR-14, BRRI-28, BRRI-29, BRRI-50, BRRI-58and HI: SL8H.

Official sources said Department of Agriculture extension has fixed a target to cultivate Boro paddy on 55,300 hectares of land in the district this year.

BADC also distributed 7 tonnes of wheat seeds, 4 tonnes of master seeds and 822 kg seeds of various winter vegetables among the farmers in the six upazilas of the district.
